Bubble voids formed on the north end of the prominence. Fascinating to watch them rise, partially collapse, then usually build up again. Bubble is loosely used to describe these voids at the base of quiescent prominences. The magnetic fields responsible for the voids are not entirely understood. The plasma in the voids is hotter than the surrounding prominence material, and its rise through the prominence is thought to possibly contribute to the extreme temperatures of the corona. Solar Prominences Rock!
